Ofsted's first report card for Trumpington Park Primary rates its early years exceptional and five other areas strong. Safeguarding standards are met.

Trumpington Park Primary School has been rated “exceptional” for its early years by Ofsted. Five of the school’s other six areas were judged a “strong standard”, and its safeguarding standards are met.

The inspection took place on 16 June 2026. The report was published today, 28 September, according to the school’s Ofsted page.

The grades

Ofsted’s new report cards grade each area on a five-point scale. “Exceptional” is the top grade, and “strong standard” is the second.

The inspectors wrote that the early years curriculum is “meticulously designed” and that “nothing is left to chance”. Many children join with low starting points, some with language and communication needs. The report says they leave Reception “exceptionally confident and well prepared for Year 1”.

Pupils’ conduct across the school is described as “exemplary”. Bullying “does not happen often”, and staff deal with friendship worries effectively.

A school where 52 languages are spoken

The report describes a “richly diverse” school. Between them, pupils speak 52 languages, and many join partway through their schooling, often from other countries.

The school on Hobson Avenue opened in 2017 and is still filling up. It has 417 pupils and room for 630, according to the inspection data. Almost 31% of pupils (30.94%) have been eligible for free school meals in the last six years, against 26.3% nationally.

Year 6 results have been at or above the national average on the main measure:

  • 2024/25: 70% met the expected standard in reading, writing and maths, against 62% nationally
  • 2023/24: 67%, against 61%
  • 2022/23: 69%, against 60%

Achievement was the one area graded “expected standard” rather than higher. The report’s next steps ask leaders to keep raising the number of Year 6 pupils reaching the expected standard, including disadvantaged pupils, and to keep cutting absence.

The school is part of Meridian Trust. At its first full inspection, in February 2022, Ofsted rated it good in every category.
